Felicidades to Sergio's Chef Mónica Alarcón!

October 7, 2015

Our very own Chef Mónica Alarcón is being honored at the Shades of Pink Gala October 7! Her passion and drive in the restaurant industry has stood out, and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) has noticed.

Alarcón is a top three finalist for the Restaurant Employee of the Year Award which honors employees for outstanding accomplishments and service in Florida's hospitality industry.

Alarcón has come a long way since becoming a waitress at Sergio's. She now manages hospitality training for over 250 employees – and on top of that she has a lot of experience doing Cuban food presentations on national television. She has had a great year – Governor Rick Scott honored her on his tax-cut tour this passed June in front of reporters.

Carlos Gazitua, CEO of Sergio's Restaurants is very proud of how far Alarcón has come. "I continue to be amazed by her hard work and accomplishments," Gazitua said. "She is a role model to Hispanic immigrants and proof that the American Dream is possible – I'm very proud of her."

The Shades of Pink Installation and Awards Gala takes place Wednesday October 7 at Hyatt Regency Orlando. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. for a cocktail reception, the Awards Dinner at 7 p.m., and an after party at 8:30 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the Central Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. This event is held in conjunction with the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show taking place October 6-8 at the Orange County Convention Center.
